Howard County, MD Risk Communications Plan

The Olson Group, Ltd. (OGL) assisted the Howard County Health Department develop a Risk Communications Plan. Through a series of interactive planning meetings with all seven health department bureaus, OGL and the Planning Team developed a Plan that details the communication and media protocols that the health department will follow during a public health crisis or emergency. The Plan highlights the specific roles of each health bureau in a crisis response and highlighted the unique information flow of the Department. In addition to outlining the Department’s roles and responsibilities during an incident, the Plan was developed to satisfy the requirements of outlined in PHAB Standard 3.2.3 A and included information about how to best respond to rumors and the media during a crisis.
