The Olson Group, Ltd. (OGL) provided exercise services to the District of Columbia and the National Capital Region (NCR) through the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG). COG is an independent, nonprofit association that brings area leaders together to address major regional issues in the District of Columbia, suburban Maryland, and Northern Virginia. COG’s membership is comprised of 300 elected officials from 22 local governments, the Maryland and Virginia state legislatures, and U.S. Congress.
2016-2017 NCR Complex Coordinated Attack Exercise Series: OGL led the design and development of the 2016-2017 NCR Complex Coordinated Attack Exercise Series involving a tabletop exercise and a full-scale exercise to discuss and demonstrate, respectively, the NCR’s response capabilities to a complex coordinated terrorist attack.
2015 Personal Preparedness Initiative: After months of reviewing existing plans, procedures, and policies belonging to state, local and Federal government entities and private sector stakeholders, OGL supported a Personal Preparedness Initiative Seminar and developed a subsequent finding report. The one-day Seminar consisted of presentations and discussions surrounding personal preparedness within the NCR.
2015 Mass Fatality Workshop: OGL planned and facilitated a Mass Fatality Workshop for COG’s Public Health Emergency Planners Subcommittee (PHEPS). The one-day plenary workshop consisted of presentations and discussions surrounding fatality management challenges within the NCR. Presentations and discussion focused on: Situational Awareness, Scene Management, Family Assistance Centers, Surge and Mortuary Operations/Identification.
