The Olson Group led the design and development, conduct, and evaluation of a full-scale exercise for Christopher Newport University. Over 10 organizations participated in the exercise from the University, including non-profits and governmental organizations. Exercise play occurred on campus on the first floors of the Freeman Center and Christopher Newport Hall.
The exercise focused on five core capabilities and emphasized a real world scenario with nearly 200 volunteer actors who played students or staff. Actors had a myriad of simulated injuries consistent with active shooter events.
Actors were situated throughout two buildings, portraying victims of a shooter who had entered the buildings and opened fire with intent to harm as many people as possible.
A Family Assistance Center/ Family Reception Center was also established to assist simulated concerned family members.
